Apple Watch not Charging Correctly

We’ve all been there. Your Apple device is running low on battery just when you need it the most. Whether it’s your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, running out of juice is always inconvenient.

But the good news? There are practical steps you can take to extend the life of your device’s battery and keep it running for longer.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through everything you need to know to maximize your Apple device’s battery life.

1. Keep Your Software Up to Date

One of the simplest ways to get the most out of your battery is to keep your software updated. Apple regularly releases software updates that include improvements to battery life and performance.

If you haven’t updated your device in a while, it’s time to do so. Just head to Settings, tap General, and then Software Update.

If there’s an update available, tap Download and Install. It’s a quick process that can make a big difference.

Also, enabling Automatic Updates is a good idea. This ensures your device always gets the latest improvements without you having to remember to check. Trust me, it’s worth it.

2. Adjust Screen Brightness

You might not realize it, but your screen brightness is one of the biggest battery drainers. Keeping it at full brightness all the time will wear your battery down much faster.

A quick way to fix this is by sliding the Brightness bar down in the Control Center.

If you want to automate it, you can enable Auto-Brightness in Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size. Trust me, even a small reduction helps.

And hey, if you really want to go further, try using Dark Mode. It reduces the amount of light your screen uses, which can save a bit of battery, especially on OLED screens.

3. Enable Low Power Mode

Apple has built-in features to help you save battery. One of the most effective is Low Power Mode. When you switch this on, it reduces background activity and limits automatic updates, stretching your battery life even further.

You can turn it on by going to Settings, tapping Battery, and switching on Low Power Mode. It’s perfect when you know you won’t be charging anytime soon.

Some people even use it all the time to squeeze out more battery life. It’s not a bad idea if you don’t mind some minor limitations.

4. Turn Off Background App Refresh

You know those apps that keep updating even when you’re not using them? They drain your battery. Disabling Background App Refresh can help prevent unnecessary power usage.

Head to Settings, tap General, select Background App Refresh, and toggle it off for apps you don’t need running in the background. This one change can make a noticeable difference.

For example, do you really need Facebook or Instagram constantly updating in the background? Probably not. Turn them off, and you’ll see the difference.

5. Manage Location Services

Location services are great for navigation, but do you really need them running for every app? Limiting Location Services can extend your battery life.

Open Settings, go to Privacy & Security, and tap Location Services.

Choose apps that don’t need constant location access and set them to While Using the App or Never. Your battery will thank you.

Just think about it—does your weather app really need to know where you are all the time? Probably not. Switching it to While Using is a smart move.

6. Avoid Extreme Temperatures

Did you know that extreme temperatures can harm your battery health? Keeping your device out of direct sunlight or freezing temperatures is crucial.

Ideally, your device should stay between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Anything outside this range can cause long-term damage to your battery.

If you ever notice your device overheating, turn it off and move it to a cooler spot. It might save your battery from permanent damage.

7. Don’t Let It Die Completely

It might seem logical to let your device completely die before charging it again, but this can actually damage your battery over time. Try to charge it before it dips below 20%.

Keeping your devices charged properly is essential for battery health. Many people often struggle with their Apple Watch not charging correctly, and it’s crucial to avoid mistakes that can damage your device.

To make sure you’re getting the most out of your Apple Watch, always follow the best practices.

Also, avoid overnight charging. It’s tempting, I know, but it can add unnecessary cycles to your battery. Try unplugging it once it’s full.

8. Use Wi-Fi Instead of Cellular Data

If you have access to Wi-Fi, always opt for it instead of cellular data. Your phone uses less power to maintain a Wi-Fi connection compared to cellular. It’s a simple switch that can extend your battery life.

Plus, when you’re in areas with poor cellular reception, your phone works harder to find a signal, draining your battery even faster. Sticking to Wi-Fi whenever possible can really help.

The Takeaway

Maximizing your Apple device’s battery life is mostly about smart habits and a few key settings.

By adjusting brightness, enabling Low Power Mode, and keeping your software updated, you can easily get more life out of your devices.

Simple tweaks like using Wi-Fi over cellular and managing background app refresh also help keep things running longer.

Remember, it’s all about maintaining good habits to ensure your devices stay powered throughout the day.
