Self-Employed? Check Out the Best Cities in the World for Co-Working

The co-working culture is on the rise. People now find it convenient to work from home or any other place that they please (excluding the office, of course). With more and more people opting for the remote working option, co-working places are the ‘in’ thing now.

I, myself, enjoy working from home. Thanks to WOW Internet that makes remote working an option for me. Here the best cities in the world to co-work at. Find out if yours made the list.

Chiang Mai

Digital nomads who are on a hunt for winter escape will love this Asian city. According to statistics stated on Nomadlist.com, $636 a month would be sufficient for an individual to cover not only the living but the co-working cost as well in this city.Individuals can get access to rather cool co-working spaces including Guru’s Box and Punspace.

And when you are not working, you can visit some of the most interesting places you’d ever been to. These include the elephant sanctuary and mountain temples. You can also delve into health and fitness options that the city offers including gyms and fitness clubs.

New York

The concrete jungle where dreams are made of is what best describes New York. The city is home to over 200 co-working spaces. The number should not surprise anyone. Because New York happens to be one of the most popular cities when it comes to business and ambitious professionals.

And because New York has a sheer amount of co-working spaces to offer, there literally is something for everyone. You get to choose whether you want to work in a crowded place or prefer to work amongst a small group of people. You will find something that syncs with your working needs.

Barcelona

Barcelona is a city that they label as a startup hub you should watch. The diverse lifestyle and activities that the city sports make it a favorite among people. You could be going for a swim in the Mediterranean to kick start your day and meeting the investors during the day. At night, you will get a chance to indulge in the buzzy drinking scene that the city offers.

After Barcelona faced an economic downturn, the coworker culture started to flourish. You would need something between $2700 and $3000 to make it through a month in Barcelona. This includes the average $218 per month cost for a co-working space. Some of the recommended co-working spaces in the city include Makers of Barcelona and Betahaus.

Prague

The beautiful city of Prague happens to be the most populous city when it comes to digital nomads in the whole of Europe. The living, as well as the working costs in the city, are low. You would need around $1000 a month to cover your living and co-working space expenses.  Prague gets praise from the foreigners for the café culture that it sports.

Some of the most prominent co-working options in the city include Impact Hub, Desk Room Prague, and Locus Works.

Austin

Described as Texas’ hippest music center, Austin also happens to sport a very happening co-working culture. The city is also a hub for tech types. Some of the things that you will get to enjoy if you choose to move to Austin include the film festival and the sprawling music scene. The city is also ranked as the world’s most dense city when it comes to co-working spaces.

The city hosts around 15 co-working spaces. However, living in Austin can be a bit hefty in your pocket. But it is still a more reasonable choice than New York and San Francisco. The latter can be very expensive cities to live in.

Singapore

Singapore happens to be the top technological hub that Asia has. This is the reason why Singapore is also a favorite amongst digital nomads as well as aspiring professionals. The city boasts around 24 co-working spaces in total. And the number keeps on increasing.

Apart from impressive co-working spaces, Singapore is also famous for the glamorous nightlife that it sports. You will love the city if you plan to move to Singapore. The co-working spaces also include spas and their own pools (at least some of them do).

Medellin

You might know this city as Escobar’s cocaine capital. However, the city is also a favorite choice amongst digital nomads. They sport it for the cheap lifestyle that Medellin offers. Atomhouse is one of the most popular co-working spaces in the city.

It won’t be an easy decision to make if you are planning to move cities. I gave shifting cities a shot back in 2015. The first thing that irritated me was I did not have access to my WOW Phone service in that area. Adjusting amongst new people was also a challenge for me. Eventually, I moved back to where I belonged.
