6 End of Tenancy Cleaning Mistakes

6 End of Tenancy Cleaning Mistakes

Most people don’t want to think about cleaning their property until they have to. However, this can cause problems if you’re renting out your home. Tenants need a clean and safe environment if they are going to be able to live comfortably in your property, so it’s important that you take the time necessary for proper end of tenancy cleaning when your tenancy ends.

If you’re looking for some tips on how best to clean your home before handing it over to a new tenant, read on! In this blog post we’ll look at six common mistakes people make when cleaning their homes before moving out:

Not cleaning the oven

While it’s important to clean your oven before you leave, it’s even more vital that you do so when it comes time for the final clean.

Here are a few tips to help you make sure that your oven is properly cleaned:

  • Cleaning products like bicarbonate of soda and vinegar work well on removing stains from inside the oven and are safe for use if done correctly. Just be careful not to get any cleaning product near any heating element or electrical wiring in the appliance as these can pose an explosion risk.
  • Do not use abrasive materials such as steel wool pads on your stainless steel surfaces as they can scratch them and lead to permanent damage.

Ignoring upholstery

One of the most common mistakes that people make when cleaning their home is to ignore upholstery. Upholstery can be very expensive to replace and requires a lot of time and effort to clean properly. However, there are ways in which you can still clean your upholstery without spending too much time or money.

One way to clean this type of fabric is by using a steam cleaner for upholstery, which uses hot water instead of detergent or bleach-based cleaners. Steam cleaners work by releasing steam into the fibers of the material so that dirt can be easily removed from its surface more quickly than conventional methods such as dry-cleaning or vacuum cleaning would allow. The result is less effort required on behalf of users who don’t want their hands too dirty when they’re finished cleaning!

Using ineffective products

  • A specialist cleaning company will know which products are right for the job.
  • Don’t use products that are too strong or toxic.
  • Don’t use products that have a strong smell.
  • Don’t use products that are too expensive.

Neglecting areas

  • Don’t neglect areas

The only way to avoid making mistakes is by focusing on the areas that are most important to your tenant. This means not forgetting to clean behind things, cleaning the inside of cupboards and cleaning every part of the oven, fridge and freezer.

Skipping dusting

Dust is one of the most common allergens in the home, and its presence can lead to a wide range of health problems. Dust mites are microscopic bugs that live off human skin scales and tend to thrive in humid environments, such as in your home. Dust mites can cause respiratory issues, asthma attacks, sinus infections and other respiratory problems; they also contribute heavily to allergies!

Dust that accumulates on surfaces like tables and shelves can scratch glass or wood furniture if it’s not removed regularly; this will make it more difficult for you to resell your items later on down the road when you’re ready to move out of your current residence. If you have cats or dogs who shed often (or if anyone in your household suffers from asthma), it’s especially important that you don’t neglect dusting tasks during an end-of-tenancy clean so as not to exacerbate their existing conditions.

Forgetting about the windows

This is a big mistake. The windows are one of the most important parts of your property and cleaning them properly can make a huge difference in how your landlord perceives you as a tenant.

If you’re renting, it’s very likely that you’ll have to clean your windows before moving out. If this is the case it’s imperative that you take care not only in cleaning them but also making sure they’re sparklingly clean by using the correct products and techniques so that no evidence remains behind for future tenants to find!

Here’s what we recommend:

Landlords and tenants should be thorough when cleaning their home.

Landlords and tenants should be thorough when cleaning their home. It’s important that you remove any personal belongings, as well as any trash or debris. This will help keep the property in good condition for future tenants to live in. Many people want a fresh start after moving out of an apartment, but not everyone takes their time to do a proper clean up job on things like carpets and floors.

Conclusion

The most important takeaway from this article is that both landlords and tenants should be thorough when cleaning their home. Landlords should make sure they clean upholstery in addition to carpets, as well as dusting the tops of cabinets and other surfaces. Tenants should make sure they clean the windows on top of everything else!
