SESMISLOT88 – President of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Gianni Infantino met with President-elect Prabowo Subianto in Paris to discuss increasing extensive football cooperation between FIFA and the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI).
Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo and PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir participated in the meeting held in the French capital.
“We discussed FIFA’s fantastic working relationship with Indonesia and PSSI, as well as the fantastic progress achieved by this beautiful country in recent times. We also discussed the increasing popularity of football among youth,” said Infantino on FIFA’s official website on Sunday.
Infantino also touched on the warm welcome and success of Indonesia when it hosted the U-17 World Cup, the first FIFA tournament to be held in Indonesia.
“Indonesia was a fantastic host for the FIFA U-17 World Cup last year and everyone who visited, including me, was blown away by the warmth and hospitality. “It’s clear that Indonesians live and breathe football,” said Infantino.
At the opening of the 2023 U-17 World Cup, FIFA President and Erick Thohir inaugurated the new FIFA regional office in Jakarta and signed a memorandum of understanding.
In this important agreement, stadium safety and security are designated as the main pillars in the transformation of Indonesian football. As part of this initiative, a special team from FIFA visited eight stadiums in four provinces in the period 20-25 May 2024.
In addition, the FIFA Forward Program is also funding the construction of PSSI’s first National Training Center in Indonesia’s new capital, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN). The National Training Center will include the construction of a field with natural grass, a synthetic grass field, dormitories and changing rooms.
“I told President-elect Prabowo that he can rely on FIFA to help Indonesia realize its great football potential and I look forward to working with him in the future,” concluded Infantino.
