The Sequent SuperCharger 2, also known as SC2, is a major innovation in the field of connected watches. Manufactured by the start-up Sequent, this smartwatch is distinguished by its self-winding feature. In simple terms, this means that the watch uses the wearer’s movements to recharge itself, which gives it a theoretically unlimited autonomy. In practice, once fully charged, the SC2 can run for over two years without moving. This is a first for a connected watch, combining the best of both worlds: electronic and mechanical technology. Until now, as for the smartphones, the battery longevity has been the main problems of the smart watches and it looks like the SuperCharger could be the answer to this problem!
The perfect evolution
The Sequent SC2 is the second version of the Sequent watch. It differs from the first version, the SC1, in several notable aspects. First of all, the design of the SC2 has undergone some changes. The SC1 featured two counters on its dial: one for the power reserve and one for tracking the progress of the daily step goal. The Sequent SuperCharger 2, on the other hand, has only one counter. By default, this counter displays the progress of the daily step goal, which is a great idea considering that the battery charge level of the watch, worn daily, is almost always at 100%.
How much cost a Sequent SuperCharger 2?
Another major change is the price. The SC1 cost about $700, while the SC2 is expected to be offered for almost three times less, about $300 depending on the finish. To achieve this more affordable price, some features of the SC1 have been removed in the Sequent SuperCharger 2. For example, the SC2 no longer has built-in GPS or sapphire crystal in the non-premium versions. However, these changes do not diminish the quality of the watch and are a reasonable compromise to make the SC2 more accessible to the general public. In fact the overall quality of the watch is, in my opinion, very high.
Sequent Super Charger 2 Design
In terms of aesthetics and comfort, the SC2 receives high praise. The watch is well-proportioned, with a diameter of 41.5 mm and a thickness of 12 mm, making it light and comfortable to wear. The watch’s strap is particularly appreciated for its aesthetics, comfort and durability. In addition, the strap is eco-friendly, as it is made from recycled plastic that used to float in the oceans. This demonstrates Sequent’s commitment to the environment and sustainable development.
An intuitive app
The app developed for the Sequent SuperCharger 2 was designed to be simple and intuitive. It offers tracking features such as distance traveled, steps taken and calories burned. The app also offers preset profiles that set daily step goals, ranging from 10,000 to 25,000 steps per day.
Startup Sequent successfully raised $1.2 million on Kickstarter for its first watch, the SC1. With the SC2, they hope to repeat that success. The Sequent SuperCharger 2 is appreciated for its quality finish, controlled design and affordable price. Delivery of the watch is expected to begin in early 2020.
