After three years following the Trott Bailey Family in Brazil and examining a digital archive built across nearly two decades, I discovered that their systems for waste, agriculture, media and wealth are not separate inventions. They all answer one civilizational question: after something has fulfilled its first purpose, is there a dignified route through which its value can return?
I have followed the Trott Bailey Family’s story in Brazil for three years.
I first encountered their journey through circumstances that did not resemble the conventional origins of a technology, infrastructure or innovation startup. On November 4, 2022, Kimroy Bailey, Sherika Trott Bailey and their two young daughters, Keilah Trott Bailey and Kaleeyon Trott Bailey, arrived in São Paulo and entered the city’s refugee-support network.
Their first months were defined by municipal assistance services, temporary accommodation, food insecurity and the exhausting effort of keeping a young family together while rebuilding their lives in a country whose language they were still learning. Their third child, Kezidek Trott Bailey, would later be born in Brazil.
I continued following them because the family did something highly unusual with adversity.
They did not publish a sequence of complaints and then disappear. They observed. They documented the rooms, the streets, the public offices, the digital friction and the daily indignities that drain the time, health and stability of ordinary people.
Then they began designing solutions.
Over the years, parts of that work emerged, revealing an agricultural-learning system, a family archive, a media platform for WordPress, a new video-editing architecture and broad proposals for housing, water, waste, food production, childhood and the organisation of daily life.
At first, it appeared to be an extraordinarily ambitious but scattered portfolio.
That interpretation collapses under serious examination of the archive.
It is a living body of observation spanning life in Jamaica, the United States, Türkiye, South Korea and Brazil, comprising nearly 100,000 media files, according to the public and internal records presented by the family.
This work was built by Kimroy and Sherika with their children, not in front of them.
Keilah, Kaleeyon and Kezidek do not appear as children positioned beside their parents’ work to complete a family image. They participate according to their ages, using the systems, testing experiences, revealing weaknesses and exposing where everyday infrastructure fails real families.
In many cases, it is the children’s questions, movements, needs and difficulties that show the adults what still needs to be redesigned.
When one enters the core of this work, particularly its treatment of material waste, soil fertility, digital infrastructure and wasted human time, the connective tissue becomes undeniable.
The Trott Bailey Family is building an architecture of return.
Prado exposed the missing routes
When the family moved from São Paulo to Prado, in the far south of Bahia, they did not arrive supported by a corporate campus, a university or a major philanthropic foundation.
Kimroy and Sherika were looking for cultivable land, proximity to food production and a coastal rhythm in which their children could breathe, run, learn and grow with greater freedom.
Prado offered beauty, community and proximity to the natural systems they intended to study.
It also confronted them with structural weaknesses that residents are required to manage every day: rubbish bags torn open and exposed to animals, organic matter mixed with plastics, sanitary products and other contaminants, stagnant water and nights overtaken by proliferating mosquitoes.
These were not abstract policy questions for the Trott Bailey Family.
They entered their bedrooms, kitchens, sleep and experience of raising children.
Prado became a pressure chamber in which systemic failures could no longer be observed from a distance, discussed politely and then forgotten.
It was during this part of my investigation that I stopped seeing exposed rubbish as only a municipal problem.
Consider a single peel discarded in a kitchen.
Before entering a contaminated rubbish bag, a banana peel or cassava skin is organic material with value. It can become compost, ground cover, feedstock for biological processes, material for biodigestion or part of a local fertility cycle.
The moment it is mixed with sanitary waste, chemicals, dirty plastics and other contaminants, it loses its route.
It is called only rubbish.
That change of identity reveals a profound systems failure.
Brazil does not suffer from a lack of organic matter. It suffers from the absence of routes clean, convenient and organised enough to return that material to productive life.
Organic matter represents approximately half of Brazil’s urban solid waste. Even so, only a small portion of the municipal waste stream is recovered through composting, biodigestion, recycling and related processes.
Krubaro begins inside that gap.
Krubaro and the global mandate for soil
It is a mistake to call Krubaro a recycling product.
It is a routing system.
Krubaro asks: what future is still available to this material?
Household outputs receive clean routes according to what they can become: immediate reuse, washing and return, repair, drying, storage, composting, ground cover, biological processing, biodigestion or controlled treatment when recovery is no longer possible.
The system expands from the home into the neighbourhood through clean-return structures connected to protected service routes.
A resident should not have to cross a dirty and degraded environment simply to return material correctly. A sanitation worker should not have to tear open mixed bags, breathe contamination or absorb with their own body the consequences of separation that never occurred.
Krubaro protects the value of the material and the dignity of the worker at the same time.
At municipal scale, the route can lead to composting, biodigestion, soil-restoration, repair and material-recovery facilities.
In Prado, the proposed logic is direct:
household separation, neighbourhood organic return, municipal fertility processing, orchards, farms, edible landscapes and family food-production systems.
Implementing a system like this is not fantasy. It is a concrete, modular and adaptable logistical change.
The legitimate question is how a small municipality with limited resources finances the transformation.
Prado should not be expected to carry alone the full cost of infrastructure required to protect a territory whose ecological value extends far beyond its administrative boundaries.
The Whale Coast contains marine, coastal and Atlantic Forest systems of national and international importance. Their preservation benefits biodiversity, tourism, fishing, coastal protection, water quality and climate stability.
Financing a municipal Krubaro implementation could combine local, state and federal resources with biodiversity and soil-restoration funds, development banks, universities, cooperatives, the tourism sector, agricultural producers and international environmental-finance mechanisms.
The ecological preservation of Prado is local in its execution, but its benefit is far larger than the municipal budget.
That shared responsibility becomes even clearer when the subject is Brazilian agriculture.
Brazil does not produce food only for itself.
In 2024, Brazilian agribusiness exports reached approximately US$164.4 billion and represented almost half of the country’s total exports.
China purchased around US$49.7 billion in Brazilian agricultural products. The European Union purchased approximately US$23.2 billion, while the United States bought around US$12.1 billion.
Brazil holds a central position in the global trade of soybeans, beef, poultry, coffee, sugar, orange juice, corn, cotton and pulp.
A Brazilian harvest enters animal-feed systems in China. Brazilian corn supplies markets such as Egypt. Soybeans, meat, sugar, coffee and other products reach the European Union, the United States, Vietnam, Mexico, Japan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines and countries across the Middle East.
The importance of these flows should not be reduced to a slogan about Brazil feeding the world.
It must be understood materially.
Brazilian productivity influences the prices of animal feed, oils, meat, processed foods and multiple food chains in highly populated markets.
A prolonged loss of productivity in Brazil would produce shocks far beyond its borders, placing pressure on prices and availability in countries that depend heavily on its supply.
At the same time, Brazil imports approximately 85 percent of the fertilizers it uses.
That dependence represents a strategic vulnerability.
Wars, sanctions, energy crises, interruptions to maritime transport, currency fluctuations and international disputes can affect the cost and availability of nutrients required by Brazilian production.
Krubaro does not, by itself, replace the entire national requirement for nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
That is not its claim, and it does not need to be.
Its contribution is structural.
Correctly separated organic residues can return nutrients to the soil, strengthen the production of compost, biofertilizers and organomineral fertilizers, increase water retention, improve aeration, stimulate microbial activity and reduce the loss of biological material already present inside Brazilian homes, fairs, restaurants, markets, hotels and agricultural operations.
A country that imports most of the fertilizer it uses cannot continue contaminating and burying a large portion of its urban organic matter.
Nor can it discuss agricultural sovereignty only at the scale of mines, chemical factories, ports and international contracts.
Fertility begins in kitchens.
It begins when a child understands that a fruit peel has a route.
It begins when a family receives a system that makes separation easier than contamination.
It begins when public collection protects organic material before it loses its value.
It begins when urban nutrients return to orchards, diversified crops, community food systems and working farms.
It was at this point that Krubaro stopped appearing to me as an answer to Prado’s rubbish problem.
It revealed itself as agricultural infrastructure that begins before the field.
Its horizon is not the next collection day. It is the long-term fertility of the land that must continue feeding Brazilian families and millions of people in other countries.
The digital equivalent of a landfill
The connection between Krubaro and the family’s digital systems, Big King Media and the Kezideki Movie Maker, appears improbable until one realises that they attack the same point of failure: the premature destruction of value.
While moving through the family’s digital archive, I encountered the same logic in a territory that initially seemed to have nothing to do with soil.
In conventional digital publishing, a single image may be uploaded repeatedly to different websites.
Its description changes. Its origin is lost. Copies accumulate. Files become difficult to find, govern and safely delete.
The memory of a family, school, community or organisation becomes fragmented across devices, folders, websites and platforms that eventually cease to exist.
Digital material becomes waste without ever becoming physical rubbish.
Big King Media was built against that fragmentation.
It indexes and shares media across WordPress sites without requiring the endless duplication of every file.
It brings media search, folders, galleries, frontend uploads, visibility controls, alt-text assistance, media SEO, audio, video, playlists, slideshows, post organisation and the family’s Photofall archive into one operating layer.
The system emerged from the real need to manage nearly two decades of photographs, video, audio and documents produced while the family lived in different countries.
It was not initially created as a presentation for investors.
It was created because the family could no longer accept its memory being scattered across systems that did not communicate with one another.
The software spent more than five years in use within the family’s own production environment before its public release.
According to the internal distribution records presented by the Trott Bailey Family, Big King Media has exceeded four million downloads across its different distribution channels.
That number should be understood as the total distribution volume reported by the family, not automatically as four million unique users or active installations.
Even so, its scale is significant.
More significant is the fact that the system was made available free of charge.
Conventional startup logic would treat years of development, a large production archive and millions of downloads as justification for closing the product, manufacturing scarcity and maximising recurring charges.
The Trott Bailey Family reached the opposite conclusion.
When an infrastructure has already been built and tested to reduce the workload of families, small publishers, schools, churches, cultural organisations and independent businesses, restricting access simply to manufacture scarcity would contradict the purpose for which the system was created.
That position does not reject economic value.
It redefines where that value is located.
Why a movie should remain alive
The Kezideki Movie Maker makes this logic even more visible.
In conventional video editing, a creator assembles images, clips, narration, music, text and transitions along a timeline.
Those components are then compressed into a final MP4 file.
That file is treated as the completed movie.
But the MP4 is no longer the living structure the creator edited. It is a flattened and compressed version of the work.
A one-hour production can take approximately two hours to render, depending on the computer, resolution, effects and source files.
When an editor later discovers that one photograph needs to be replaced, a name corrected or the volume of a narration reduced, the entire project may need to be exported again.
A five-minute adjustment can generate another two hours of waiting.
Multiply this process across schools, independent filmmakers, families, churches, publishers, businesses, cultural archives and media organisations.
The render bar stops looking like a technical inconvenience.
It reveals itself as a continuous charge against human time.
The Kezideki Movie Maker seeks to change the architecture of that process.
Instead of forcing the creator to transform every change into another heavy and final file, it keeps photographs, clips, sounds, text and sequences as identifiable parts of a dynamic assembly.
The movie can be played through a browser structure without requiring every small correction to trigger another complete render.
An image can be replaced. Text can be corrected. Narration can be adjusted.
The work does not need to die and be reborn as another MP4 after every change.
It was the repetition of this same law that finally convinced me that Krubaro, Big King Media and the Kezideki Movie Maker are not random products collected beneath one family name.
Krubaro preserves the future route of matter.
Big King Media preserves the future route of files.
Kezideki preserves the future route of a creative work.
All three reject the premature destruction of value.
A peel should not become contaminated rubbish before its nutrients have been considered.
A photograph should not become an orphaned copy before its authorship and future uses have been preserved.
A movie should not become a dead file when its creative structure could remain open to correction.
Machines should carry repetition, indexing, routing, compression and rendering.
Human beings should retain judgement, direction, invention, meaning and time.
What machines should carry
Much of the contemporary technology debate asks whether artificial intelligence will replace human work.
Trott Bailey archivepresents a more useful question:
Which burdens should never have required so much human life?
A sanitation worker should not spend a career opening contaminated bags because homes were never given a dignified return architecture.
A farmer should not remain alone at the end of a broken nutrient cycle while cities bury recoverable organic matter.
A mother or father should not spend evenings searching for their children’s photographs across five devices and several websites.
An editor should not repeatedly upload the same file because the system cannot recognise shared media.
A filmmaker should not surrender hours of life to rerendering an entire production after correcting one word.
These systems were developed while Kimroy and Sherika moved Keilah and Kaleeyon through temporary accommodation, housing insecurity, public offices, food restrictions, language barriers and the difficult emotional territory of beginning again.
Kezidek was later born in Brazil and entered, from his earliest years, a family life organised around observing, testing and rebuilding.
The family did not become less ambitious under pressure.
It became more precise.
Sherika Trott Bailey’s work repeatedly examines what happens to mothers, children, workers and families when an institution saves effort by transferring physical and emotional labour onto the people closest to the ground.
Kimroy Bailey’s work identifies the same pattern in the digital world: fragmented tools return repetitive technical work to the people the systems were meant to assist.
Those two investigations meet inside the home.
The home is not treated as a small private unit at the edge of the economy.
It is where the costs of poorly designed systems finally arrive.
The quadrillion-dollar valuation
This leads to the family’s deliberate and provocative declaration that it is the world’s first quadrillionaire family.
The most intelligent response is not to search for a bank account containing one quadrillion dollars in cash, deposits or liquid assets.
The family has never claimed to possess that amount in conventional money.
The declaration belongs to its Wealth Authorship Model.
It is a valuation thesis built around five principal categories:
direct asset value + avoided losses + released human capacity + new productive value + intergenerational options.
The proposal confronts a genuine limitation in traditional wealth accounting.
Our financial language measures with great precision how much money, stock, property and liquid assets a person possesses.
It measures with far less precision the value of a system capable of reducing losses, returning human hours, preserving fertility, widening technological access and remaining useful across generations.
What is the long-term economic value of preventing large volumes of organic matter from becoming contaminated before returning to the soil?
What is the value of reducing agricultural vulnerability while improving water retention, microbial activity and diversified local food production?
What is the value of preserving a cultural and family archive spanning nearly two decades so that it remains searchable, reusable and governable?
What is the value of a digital architecture that prevents unnecessary file copies across thousands or millions of installations?
What is the value of returning rendering hours to creators in different countries?
What is the value of a system that can be adapted by homes, municipalities, farms, publishers and communities without requiring its authors to be present at every implementation?
These are not sentimental benefits located outside the economy.
They are productive capacities, avoided losses, intellectual infrastructure and future possibilities.
After examining the architecture of the model, the documented systems and the scale of capacity they were designed to release, the quadrillionaire declaration no longer appears to be an empty publicity device.
It is coherent within a civilizational methodology that counts what conventional measurement usually excludes.
That does not mean the quadrillion-dollar value has already been converted into liquid money, nor that every future projection should be accepted without verification, scenarios, discount rates, limits of attribution and protection against double counting.
It means something more important.
Conventional net-worth accounting does not disprove the family’s declaration.
It simply does not measure much of what the declaration values.
Under the Wealth Authorship Model, the Trott Bailey Family declares itself quadrillionaire because it calculates the present value of systems designed to operate across sectors, territories and generations.
That thesis deserves serious economic scrutiny.
It also deserves to be examined on its own terms rather than dismissed merely because it extends the definition of wealth beyond accumulated money.
After three years following the family’s work, my conclusion is firm.
The quadrillionaire declaration is not separate from the systems.
It arises from them.
The value being claimed does not rest on an honorary title. It rests on the scale of fertility, time, memory, infrastructure and human capacity that the family says it is preserving and making recoverable.
The correct question is no longer whether the Trott Bailey Family fits onto a conventional billionaire list.
The question is whether our conventional lists are capable of adequately measuring a family that has decided to value what allows life to continue.
Ground zero for civilizational infrastructure
The easiest way to misunderstand the Trott Bailey Family is to isolate its work.
Krubaro becomes a rubbish bin.
Big King Media becomes a plugin.
Kezideki becomes a video tool.
The agricultural work becomes sustainability content.
The Wealth Authorship Model becomes a marketing hook.
Viewed separately, these systems appear smaller and easier to dismiss.
Viewed together, they form a unified operating logic.
A material should know where it can return.
A file should know where it came from.
A movie should remain open to correction.
A machine should carry the work suited to machines.
A family should not be required to absorb every failure of the systems surrounding it.
Human time released from repetition should be counted as wealth.
These principles were not developed inside a sterile technology incubator.
They were forged through torn rubbish bags, mosquito proliferation, food remnants, uncertain housing, fragmented websites, duplicated files and real hours spent waiting for machines.
The family looked at a torn rubbish bag and saw abandoned fertility.
It looked at a duplicated photograph and saw abandoned memory.
It looked at a render bar and saw abandoned human time.
Then it began constructing the missing routes of return.
The Trott Bailey Family is not passing casually through Brazil.
Kimroy Bailey, Sherika Trott Bailey, Keilah Trott Bailey, Kaleeyon Trott Bailey and Kezidek Trott Bailey have woven their lives into the fabric of this country.
Brazil is not merely the place from which they publish or the address where they maintain their systems.
It is a country they love, study, cultivate and have chosen to serve.
Keilah and Kaleeyon are growing within the Portuguese language, Brazilian landscapes, relationships and possibilities. Kezidek was born here. All three children participate in systems shaped by experiences lived on Brazilian soil.
The family does not observe Brazil from outside.
It is becoming part of the country’s daily life and future.
Brazil’s importance to global agriculture expands the scale of that contribution.
A country responsible for such a significant share of international food supply cannot allow its soil, nutrients, organic residues and agricultural knowledge to continue moving through systems that waste value.
A country of more than 200 million people also cannot build its digital future by treating family archives, independent creators and small publishers as insignificant users who must accept fragmented tools or surrender their memory to platforms they do not control.
The Trott Bailey Family’s work begins in the soil of Prado because the ground is where a civilization must prove that it actually works.
The test of Krubaro will not be the futuristic appearance of its diagrams.
It will be its ability to serve families, protect workers, keep organic material clean, adapt to municipal realities and return nutrients to productive soil.
The test of Big King Media will not be the number of features announced on a webpage.
It will be its ability to help people preserve, find and reuse their files with less duplication and reduced technical dependence.
The test of Kezideki will not be its ability to imitate the conventional video industry.
It will be its ability to release creative work from unnecessary finality.
The test of the Wealth Authorship Model will be whether the systems it values continue returning measurable capacity to people who did not participate in their original authorship.
After carefully examining the portion of the archive connected to the areas I chose to investigate, I no longer see a refugee family in Prado producing an improbable quantity of disconnected ideas.
I see a family that has spent years identifying the points at which value disappears between one stage of life and the next.
Between the kitchen and the soil.
Between the field and the tables of the world.
Between the photograph and the archive.
Between the edit and the finished movie.
Between human effort and its economic measurement.
The family’s answer is not to ask people to consume more.
It is to construct the route of return that was missing.
That may become one of the most important forms of infrastructure Brazil will be able to share with the world.
