Co-Living Could Change Everything in 2025

Co-Living Could Change Everything in 2025

Ethical Property Investments in Australia

Seven years ago, I stood at a crossroads. After years of building a successful property business, I’d reached a point where I could have easily retired young. But deep down, something was missing. Money alone didn’t feel like a measure of success anymore. A pivotal moment came when I spent a week with Richard Branson, who taught me one of life’s greatest truths: the secret to living is giving. That conversation changed everything.

Today, as the founder of Ethical Property Investments, my focus is on creating commercial solutions to social housing problems, particularly for people with disabilities. We help investors grow their portfolios while giving some of Australia’s most vulnerable citizens something priceless: the dignity and stability of a home that truly meets their needs.

When we launched, we were the first organisation in the country to purposely build homes for NDIS participants. Think of us as a matchmaking service. We connect the right investors, people willing to take a calculated risk for a meaningful return — with individuals who desperately need a place to live. It was a bold idea, one that began as an experiment and grew into a movement. My family, friends, and I invested nearly $10 million into projects that many said wouldn’t work. Today, we’re the exclusive partner of one of Victoria’s largest disability housing providers.

Australia’s housing crisis has reached breaking point. More than 50,000 homes are needed for people with disabilities, and 15,000 individuals remain inappropriately housed, often in hospitals or aged-care facilities, simply because there’s nowhere else for them to go. We’re on the brink of changing that.

Our model redefines what “affordable housing” means. Instead of building cheap or government-subsidised units, we create high-quality, purpose-built homes equipped with assistive technologies and tailored layouts. We make housing affordable by adopting co-living models, house share solutions that reduce individual costs. When rent is paid per person, not per dwelling, it becomes achievable for more people.

Everyone deserves choice and control over where they live, especially people with disabilities, so many of aspects of life offer them zero autonomy as it is, home should really feel like it’s built around their needs. Mainstream homes that are merely adapted often feel like a compromise. Purpose-built homes, designed in collaboration with tenants, are life-changing. They provide independence, dignity, and a genuine sense of belonging.

We’re now partnering with organisations like the Mental Health Foundation Australia and Empowered Liveability, bridging the gap between investors, service providers, and those in need. Together, we’ve already built several homes across Victoria, including specialist co-living properties in Wyndham and Doreen — places where young adults with disabilities can live independently with round-the-clock support.

This is about shifting wealth toward purpose, showing investors that doing good and making money can coexist. At the heart of it, our mission is simple: Empower people through housing.
