Reasons Why Remote Patient Monitoring is Convenient

Reasons Why Remote Patient Monitoring is Convenient
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Remote care may help monitor your patient’s progress and allow your doctor to analyze patient data. These technologies enhance Care Management, an essential tool for successful compliance. Additionally, they cultivate patient-provider relationships, creating a more relaxed and effective way to communicate with each other. This article will outline the reasons why remote patient monitoring is convenient.

Increase Benefits

Patient remote monitoring has become a popular option for physicians. While a patient’s location does not necessarily affect their care, remote monitoring has several benefits. It decreases hospital readmission rates, reduces mortality, and can even help physicians avoid Affordable Care Act penalties. Ultimately, remote monitoring improves patient outcomes and provides higher ROI. With health care costs continuing to increase, remote patient monitoring is a cost-effective solution.

Patients who suffer from chronic conditions can also benefit from remote monitoring. They can also benefit from natural disasters and crises. These programs have the added benefit of improving patient outcomes and care regimens. Ultimately, patient remote monitoring is an investment in improving health care quality for the individual and the healthcare system.

Cost

One study suggests that the cost of remote patient monitoring could save hospitals $15 billion annually. These savings would be spread over five years, and the cost of investing in the technology would be recovered in six to nine months. With this technology, hospitals can avoid nearly 300,000 patient falls, prevent 1.2 million pressure ulcers, and reduce the number of code blue events by 259,000. While a few factors may affect the cost of remote patient monitoring, the benefits far outweigh the costs.

Improved Workflows

Implementing workflows through remote patient monitoring tools is a key element that allows incidents to bill under general supervision, which means that the physician does not have to be physically present in the same building as the clinical staff. In addition, streamlining workflows allows physicians and staff to spend more time with the patient and less on administrative tasks.

Implement COVID check-ins to monitor a patient’s symptoms after discharge. Tracking symptoms over time allows the healthcare system to automatically trigger care escalation and determine the best course of action. Monitoring workflows can also be automated to end when the patient feels better or no longer needs the monitoring. Managing chronic conditions is challenging, but automated check-ins can make the process much easier.

Readmissions

While there is no perfect screening tool, patient remote monitoring effectively reduces hospitalizations, including readmissions, by identifying at-risk patients. Risk assessment aims to determine interventions to help patients ease their readmission rate. While no screening tool is perfect, recent efforts to develop predictive models have yielded fair discriminative abilities.

Remote patient monitoring uses digital technologies to collect health data from individuals in one location and securely transmit that information to healthcare providers. The benefits of remote patient monitoring are not just limited to readmissions; they also enhance patient satisfaction and lower hospital costs.

Impact On Underserved Communities

Using patient remote monitoring technologies has several benefits for communities with limited healthcare access. These communities are often located in underserved areas, and access to health care is often limited due to geographical distance, cost, or other barriers. Remote monitoring provides physicians with data that can help them identify health conditions and improve patient outcomes. It can also increase patient wellness by tracking a person’s vital signs and other health-related data.

There are many reasons why underserved populations lack access to care. For example, less than 10% of physicians practice in rural areas. It is often difficult to receive adequate health care due to transportation, childcare, and hourly jobs. Additionally, low-income communities lack access to a wide variety of healthcare providers. With patient remote monitoring technology, these communities can obtain high-quality care and avoid costly visits to the doctor’s office.
